Gestuelles - the art of transmission by Aboriginal desert women
Alliance Francaise de Melbourne - Eildon Gallery - 51 Grey St - St Kilda

16 April - 17 May 2013

Originating from two historical Aboriginal art centres, Warlukurlangu Artists in Yuendumu (NT) and Warlayirti Artists in Balgo Hills (WA), the body of works explores women's painting and their gestures relating to transmission, and reflects on their struggle between individually and collective pressures.

The Opening ceremony for the exhibition will be held on Tues 16th April, 6.30pm to 8.00pm, including:
- 'Welcome to Country' by Aunty Carolyn Briggs, Boonwurrung Elder,
- Welcoming speech by Mrs. Myriam Boisbouvier-Wylie, Honorary Consul General of France in Melbourne,
- Floor talk by Mrs. Solenne Ducos-Lamotte, Director of IDAIA and Aboriginal art expert.
