Happy May Day everyone!
I can't believe it's already May! Growing up, May was my favourite month of
the year - as it is my birthday month and was the month school ended and
summer began (in the US of course)! Here it seems to be the month that
winter descends on Melbourne, sunlight becomes a scarce commodity and
scarves and jackets are suddenly a necessity!!!
May also means Cinco de Mayo - and this year we are celebrating by holding
a General Meeting on 7 May at Blue Corn (a
Mexican restaurant) in St Kilda. Our General Meetings are a great time to
get together as a larger group and have a chance to catch up with current
members while meeting some new friends! Further details about the May
General Meeting are on the AWA website. I hope to see many of you there!
I also want to welcome a new Board member! Julie Vlassis Cooke has joined
the AWA Board as Vice President of Membership. As many of you know, Marla
Coffin, our former VP of Membership recently moved back to the US and Julie
has stepped up to fill the position! Thank you to Julie for taking up the
challenge! If you have any questions regarding membership, please feel free
to contact Julie - her details are on the AWA website.
Hope to see you all at an AWA event soon!
