The AWA has a couple of major events coming up this month, which I hope you
are all planning to attend.
First, one of our major fundraising events, Memories of Melbourne, is being
held on 19 June 2013 at The Block Arcade. As many of you know, this event
comprises a "high cocktail" and a fashion parade exhibiting Melbourne
fashion from the past 120 years. The fashion pieces are original garments
from their time held in a private collection. The event is sponsored by
Louis Vuitton, Crabtree and Evelyn and Hopetoun Tea Rooms. Tickets for the
event are on sale on the AWA website for $120. Of course, all proceeds from
the event go to support the Children's Bioethics Centre. It should be a
really lovely night and I hope to see you all there!!!!
Also, on 12 June 2013, we are having an important general meeting at which
we will elect the 2013-2014 AWA Board and vote on certain changes to the
AWA's Constitution, including changing the Board year and the name. These
changes will allow us to keep current and fresh in our ever changing and
competitive landscape. I look forward to seeing many of you at this
meeting, which will be held at Taco Bill's in South Melbourne. Note that we
are also having a New Member's Happy Hour immediately prior to the general
meeting where we will welcome many new members who have joined our
organisation over the past 6 months! Please RSVP for this event via our
