Hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving! Mine was great - I attended 3
different Thanksgiving events this year - 2 more than I usually would have
in the US!!!
The Consulate General's office teamed up with the Victorian Multicultural
Commission and the American Australian Association for a traditional
Thanksgiving lunch at Crown on Wednesday, which was lovely. Then on
Thursday night the AWA/Ivy League Alumni Associations Thanksgiving cocktail
party was a unique way to spend Thanksgiving evening. I think all of the
AWA ladies who attended had a good time and made many new friends,
strengthening our ties with this group of Americans and friends of America.
But, of course, my favourite event was Sunday afternoon - what a wonderful
day at the AWA traditional Thanksgiving event at The International of
Brighton! Great food and fabulous company really made the afternoon a
wonderful success. Thank you so much to the fantastic Thanksgiving
committee headed by Joy Villalino, for all of you hard work in putting the
event together, it definitely paid off! In addition to having a great time,
we made $1200 for the Children's Bioethics Centre at the RCH through our
auction - a fantastic result!
I'm very much looking forward to the next couple of weeks. I hope many of
you are planning to attend the Christmas Cocktail party at the Consul
General's home in Toorak on 11 December from 6 to 8pm. This will be a great
chance to celebrate the holidays with your AWA friends and to meet the new
Consul General, Mary Warlick, who recently commenced her role in Melbourne
in October. Please check out the website for further details.
Happy holidays everyone!
