April 2012: Easter & Golf Success and Nominations sought

Main Image
Wow, what a great turn out we had for Easter! I'm still waiting to hear final numbers at next month's board meeting - but I'm certain it was over 70 kids and at least 100 parents! It was a lovely day and great to see so many new faces out and about. A warm thank you to Andrea Taormina who chaired the event.

And of course, Golf was a great success, too. Read here to get a quick update and look for more news in the upcoming Stars & Stripes!

Most important on the AWA's plate at the moment is a shift into the nominating season - which is kicking off in the next week or two. We've got a great consistency in our board with 5 of us continuing on, but we're also in need of some fresh faces. Think you have what it takes to join us - (that is - enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to 'have a go')? If so, we'd love to hear from you! Please don't be shy!

If you are interested in getting more involved with the AWA - please don't hesitate to put up your own hand! We are after people with a number of skills and are happy to discuss the commitment required for the different roles we're seeking to fill.

Below are a few of the areas we're looking to fill for the 2012-2013 year - both on our board and within our event chairs. To show your interest in any of the following positions, please contact Tiffany - our nominating committee chair.

To join the AWA board:

Great with numbers and accounting? We're in need of a Treasurer! Love 'selling' (i.e., talking up this great organisation and getting sponsors on board) then VP Membership might be for you! Like writing and enjoy creating connections? Our PR role is open. And finally, want to *really* take charge? We're seeking a new President.

Event chairs:

Thanksgiving Coordinator & Committee: Is Thanksgiving your favourite holiday? Want to see the event back at the International of Brighton like in some previous years - or want it to be a family-friendly pot-luck event? It's up to you!

Halloween Committee: Meanwhile - our Halloween Chair, Tamera Stillwell is getting ready to kick off planning. Watch this space to learn more and join her committee!

As I am planning to be on the board again myself next year, I look forward to working with some fresh new faces and some of our longer term members as well!

Kind regards,

Ann Marie
