On Thursday 8 March, Melbourne and the world will be celebrating
International Women's Day (IWD). With so much to do and think about
on this day, the AWA wants to make sure that our members find ways to
think globally and act locally!
This year's theme is #PressforProgress with the hashtag emphasising
solidarity and continuity with the
women's movements - both of which launched globally from
social media platforms. IWD's #Pressfor Progress callout is meant
to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think,
act and be gender inclusive.
Therefore, the AWA suggests that our membership, as American expat women
(or those who are closely related to/working with us) might find the
following Melbourne IWD activities and organisation engaging and
Thursday, 8 March - International Women's Day
IWD Breakfast for Entrepreneurs - 8am - 9:30am, CBD. Listen to
five female industry leaders share their big ideas and workshop how
to actualise your own startup.
March - 5:30-7:30pm, State Library of Victoria. Join people
from all over Melbourne, as we take to the streets and march together
for solidarity for equal rights!
IWD Celebrating Women in
Music - 7:30pm- midnight, The John Curtin Hotel Carlton.
Celebrating and raising monies for all types of musical women.
