New Social Group Coordinators Needed:

GenX Group is seeking a new coordinator:
As much as I have enjoyed leading such a vibrant group of ladies, I am nearing the end of my pregnancy and finding myself at a time and energy disadvantage. Hopefully some of you might like to chair or co-chair the group starting in October. I am happy to help in any way with this transition. Please contact me for more details.
Melanie Hughes

Out to Lunch Bunch is seeking a new coordinator for the remainder of the year (and hopefully beyond!)

This little group meets about once a month to try out a new restaurant.  Places the group has ventured to in the past have been C'est Bon in Port Melbourne, Longrain in the CBD, Ethiopian food in Footscray, and the Point in Albert Park lake.

The role of the coordinator is pretty simple- just pick out one the many restaurants Melbourne has to offer and notify the group via email, the Stars and Stripes newsletter and the AWAre magazine about the time and place.  It's a great way to meet new friends, maintain contact with existing friends, and enjoy a lunch around town.

If you are interested and would like to help out, please contact Shani .

Evening Book Club October Book
Evening book club will be reading The Brain That Changed Itself by Norman Doidge for October.  The NYT hails the book as a "fascinating synopsis of the current revolution in neuroscience."  Author Norman Doidge bridges the gap between science and self help in his writings about nueroplasticity and the brain's ability to change and heal itself.  We will be meeting on October 29th to talk about the ideas in his book.  The restaurant is TBA.
Please contact Heidi Bergman, 9502-0617 for more information.

 Did You Know that...:

One of the AWA's Panel of Advisors, James Barton (who has also played a big part in the Independence Day Ball over the past 8-9 years), was the guitarist for the band 1927, which happens to be one of the highest selling debut albums ever produced by an Australian band!

1927 , is re-releasing their CD and going on tour this November.  In the US these songs were in the 'Top 100 Songs' and that here in Australia they won Aria awards! Listen to two of the top songs: If I could and That's When I Think of You
