Independence Day Celebration
Check your mailbox for your 2009 AWA Independence Day Celebration invite arriving very soon! Be sure to mark your calendar for June 20 for what is sure to be a fun-filled evening of food, dancing and entertainment at Bobby McGee's at Rydges Melbourne. At $55 per person, you will want to invite all your friends for our biggest fundraiser of the year. All proceeds will go to purchase equipment for the Cystic Fibrosis Research Team at the Royal Children's Hospital. Return your reply card by mail ASAP or log into our website, www.awamelbourne.org to purchase tickets using Paypal.
If you would like to extend your celebration time or have visiting guests, Rydges is offering a special $195 room rate. Please mention the AWA Independence Day Celebration when reserving your room. This offer is subject to availability.
Eastern Memory Makers

Bayside Memory Makers
It's a scrapbooking marathon day with the Bayside Memory Makers on Wednesday May 13th from 10 am to 4 pm at Carolyn's house in Hampton. Come and go as you wish or stay the whole day! Morning tea will be provided but BYO your lunch. Please RSVP Carolyn to reserve your space.
Angel Network
The Angel Network is available to assist members in times of joy or in times of grief. If you know of someone who needs an angel meal, greeting card, or just a friendly phone call, please contact Judy, our Angel Network Coordinator.
Starlight Room
A few more volunteers are needed to help sick children with arts and crafts on Tuesday, 5 May at the Children’s hospital from 10-12. Thanks to those of you who have already volunteered. A new Starlight Room Coordinator will be needed in June, if you love doing arts and crafts and helping bring some joy to RCH patients, please contact Tricia for more information.
RCH Gift Shop
3 volunteers are urgently needed for Thursday, 28 May. Two volunteers may choose to work the morning shift from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and one is needed for the afternoon shift from 1-4 p.m. Besides spending time getting acquainted with another AWA member, volunteers assist the shop manager at the checkout counter and help customers with gift selection. No previous experience required! Other available dates include 25 June, 23 July, 27 August, and 24 September. Contact Caron today to volunteer!
Moms & Tots
Our playgroup will be meeting every Friday this month for kid-oriented get togethers. The morning groups are aimed at toddlers and preschoolers while the afternoon group gives school age children a chance to play together. Please check the schedule below for all of our meetings or contact Melissa for more information.

PM Book Club
You may have seen the movie but why not try the book this month. The PM Book Club will be reading Marley and Me by John Grogan. Contact Heidi for details on the location of the meeting planned for May 30th.
Movie Night
