AWA Annual General Meeting
Mark your calendars for the AWA Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, October 7 from 6-8PM. We're looking forward to sharing with everyone what the American Women's Auxiliary has been up to and what's in store for the coming year. All members are welcome to attend, so this will be a great opportunity for long time and new members to catch up over some food and drinks.

The Out to Lunch Bunch
Calling all ladies who lunch! You are a perfect candidate for the Out to Lunch Bunch if you can answer yes to any or all of the following questions:
1. Do you have an interest in food (can range from slightly intrigued to food obsessed)?
2. Are you willing to sit with others over food and/or wine without throwing a tantrum?
3. Are you open to experiencing the diverse food culture of Melbourne?
4. Do you have an ability to appreciate the art of having fun?
If you think you may be qualified, then join us for the next gathering on Tuesday, October 14th, at C’est Bon, 396 Bay St, Port Melbourne at 12PM. In the coming months, the Out to Lunch Bunch will be travelling the culinary globe while staying right here in Melbourne. Our first outing will be to experience a little bit of France via C’est Bon.

Wine Appreciation Evening
Please join us for an AWA Wine Appreciation evening at the home of Shani Jackofsky on Tuesday, September 16th from 6-8PM. Bring yourself, your favourite bottle of wine, and be ready to enjoy some good conversation with the other ladies! Hors' doeuvre will be served.

RCH Gift Shop Volunteers
Thank you to all who have contacted me about volunteering at the Royal Children’s Hospital gift shop! We have filled all volunteer slots for 2008 thanks to your generous donations of time. We will not provide volunteers for the month of December this year since the fourth Thursday in December falls on Christmas Day and the shop will be closed. GenX Evening
The next GenX event will be held on the evening of Friday, September 26th and we will be starting off at Bar Lourinha in Little Collins St, a Melbourne institution well known for its delicious tapas, awesome wine list and amazing churros! After dinner we'll head out for out for drinks and dancing for anyone who would like to kick up their heels. Sorry guys, this is a ladies only event and more details to follow. US Ambassador Lecture
Need more information before casting your ballot in the Presidential election? US Ambassador Derek Shearer will deliver a free public lecture at the University of Melbourne entitled "Obama v. McCain - Who will Win, Does it Matter?" The Lecture will be given on Thursday, September 18th in the GM 15 Theatre of the Law School from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Admission is free but bookings are essential.
