HALLOWEEN PARTY - SUNDAY OCTOBER 28TH!
The Halloween party is coming up fast!! For a lot of American newcomers, this will be their first experience celebrating Halloween in the Spring! We promise to make this party as much fun as possible for the kids! There will be games, pizza, a costume contest, and instead of "Trick-or-Treat", the kids will "trick-or-trunk". And please invite your Australian friends to experience Halloween American-style! The party will take place SUNDAY, OCTOBER 28 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. The cost will be $10.00 a head ($15.00 if signing up after October 22nd) and reservation forms can be found in the latest AWARE magazine! Please reserve today!
We also still need volunteers to help with running games, directing traffic, baking goodies, and other fun activities. For more information on attending and/or volunteering, please email Jennifer Smart or call her at 9859 1639 or Tracy Warmann at 9804 0898.
THANKSGIVING DINNER IN MELBOURNE
To celebrate the most American of holidays, AWA is hosting "Thanksgiving in Melbourne" this year. Please mark your calendars for Sunday, November 18, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. for a wonderful holiday meal of turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, green beans, corn and of course, pumpkin pie! The venue where the Thanksgiving dinner will be held, The Lincoln of Toorak, is beautiful and the food promises to be delicious. There will also be a silent auction and raffle items with all proceeds used to purchase equipment for the Royal Children's Hospital.
2008 INDEPENDENCE DAY BALL MEETING
By all accounts, the 2007 Independence Day Ball was a bona fide success!! Everyone who attended raved about the food and the music! In addition, over $70,000 was raised for the Royal Children's Hospital! To make next year's Ball just as fun and successful, it is important to start planning now. The first planning meeting will be held at Heather Ali's house on October 15th at 7:00 p.m. If you are interested in being a part of the planning process for this important AWA event, please call Cindy Hawkins at 0424 002 029 or email her. We look forward to seeing you there!
