Thanks for the efforts and luck to the new board
As we enter our 82nd year and as I prepare to hand over the reins of President
at next week's board meeting, I reflect on the year gone by…
I am proud of what we have achieved, I'm excited about the groundwork that we've laid and I look forward with eager anticipation to what the new year will bring. Mostly, I take heart knowing the original 16 founders would be so proud of where we are and the impact their legacy has had on the lives of so many.
I was sorry an unexpected family situation took me to the US over our recent 4th of July events. I was particularly looking forward to the RCH Tour and meeting where I would have the chance to properly thank all of the women that have supported me in the role this year. I realise there are literally too many of you to name (all of the board, our coordinators, those of you who led events and were on the committees, our activity leaders, and those of you who help out at the hospital through Starlight and the gift shop). You know who you are and I hope that you are proud and confident that your contribution truly does make a difference in the lives of others.
I did want to take just a moment to thank three women in particular whose support I couldn't have done without. These three ladies went over and beyond the call of duty time and time again. In addition to their board roles and assisting on extra tasks and additional committes, they each stepped up to chair our major fundraisers - which in themselves were like full time jobs. These ladies enthusiasm, drive and energy are boundless and our organisation truly would not have 'worked' this year without them. To Heather Pfaff Cunsolo, Tiffany Lucas and Teranne Keogh, a huge heart felt thank you.
I would further like to applaud Tiffany Lucas, who not only gave her all this year, but has kindly agree to take on the role of President for 2012-13. It's a challenging and rewarding role that I am most confident that she will excel in.
As a parting note, I would like to throw out a continued challenge to all of you:
Thank you for being a part of the AWA and I look forward to continuing to 'work' with all of you over the year(s) to come.

Even if you think you're "too busy" - I can tell you with certainty that if you can find the time to be involved you'll both enrich the lives of others and be blessed with richness back.Thank you for being a part of the AWA and I look forward to continuing to 'work' with all of you over the year(s) to come.
