The annual Valentine's Day Cocktail Party - one of the most successful and anticipated events on the AWA calendar - was introduced. The tickets for the first party were just $2.
Approaching its 50th year, the 1970s was also a time to take stock and reflect on how much the AWA had achieved since those first tentative steps in 1931.
